Shopkeepers Arrested For Allegedly Selling Contaminated Sugar

Officers based in Nairobi, arrested two suspects for allegedly selling contaminated sugar.

The officers who acted on a tip-off from the public who had allegedly bought a kilogram of sugar in Riverside area, only to find the pellets containing a substance that she suspected to be poisonous.

A statement from the National Police Service said the cops swung into action and arrested thee shopkeeper.

The officers further confiscated 48 kg of sugar in a 50 kg Brazilian bag, as well as 40 pieces of 1kg packets of Kabras and Ndhiwa sugar brands.

“The suspect also led the officers to Njeka Wholesale belonging to one Kamau, where officers also seized more items, among them, 60bags of 50kg bags, bearing different brands including Kakira sugar, Indian brown sugar, and Diamond sugar bag,” read the statement.
