Post by : Hillary Musyoki

Shakahola massacre, the controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie, has defended himself against the charges presented before him.

In a statement recorded with the police, Paul claims that he neither preached about the end of the world nor called on his followers to fast till death.

He further says that there is no physical church anywhere including deep inside the Shakahola forest, but he says he bought the 800 acre piece of land in Shakahola, subdivided the piece to his followers who boght at will and some of his followers are yet to clear payments.

On April 24, 2023, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome said that the ownership of the 800-acre land was in dispute.

“The criminal with us owns 800 acres here well it’s a matter under investigations because other parties have come forward saying he does not own this piece of land so it’s a matter again under investigation…,”said Koome.

In a statement, Paul Mackenzie claims that he cannot account for the number of people who were in the forest because he did not call them, and there was no sales agreement or title for those who purchased the pieces of lands.
