No-Shave November

‘No shave November’ is an awareness -raising campaign, celebrated every year around the world for embracing your hair which many cancer patients lose, letting your hair grow wild and free.

During the campaign awareness, men are challenged to grow out their facial hair, beard, mustache and yes chest hair, armpit hair also counts whatever they can stand for the next 30 days.

The movement is created to raise awareness of Men’s health issues including a number of diseases and illnesses such as;

  • prostate cancer

-is cancer that occurs in the prostate. A prostate is a small walnut shaped gland in males that produces the seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm

  • Testicular Cancer

-this is growth of cells that starts in the testicles

  • Poor Mental Health

-finding it difficult to manage how we think, feel, act with respect to daily stresses

  • Physically inactive

-not been able to get the regular exercises

The movement has  been spread nationwide and more than $12 million has been raised for cancer organizations.

For those with strict dress code fear not , ‘No shave November’ allows grooming and trimming.

History

‘No shave November’ was started in 2009 when members of the Chicagoland hill family in California come up with the idea of ‘no shave November’ to raise money for charity towards people fighting cancer and related ailments.

In addition to that, the project was started by the eight children in the family after their father, Mathew Hill passed away from colon cancer in November 2007

However,’Movember’ which is closely related to the campaign began in 2003 in Melbourne Australia by 3 friends.

The story behind is, once when the friends were having beer and couldn’t understand the reason why the mustache was out of fashion . The conversation which started to bring back mustache fashion was soon decided to be used in a meaningful way by focusing  it on means of health awareness.

Well men a 30 day challenge of no shaving, no use of razors scissors or any other apparatus unless those in strict business where grooming is allowed.

The money raised during the campaign supports the patients suffering from cancer and other ailments.

Grooming your hair is allowed, but no shaving once you start the ‘No- shaving November’ keep it till the months ends showing your support.
