The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) will host its second Scientific Conference and Innovation Expo next week, showcasing a broad spectrum of agricultural technologies designed to improve food security, boost farmers’ incomes, and strengthen climate resilience.

The event will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, farmers, agribusiness leaders, development partners, investors, and innovators. All will focus on exploring research-driven strategies to transform Kenya’s agricultural landscape.

Participants will also have the opportunity to network, establish partnerships, and engage in business collaborations aimed at accelerating the adoption of scientific innovations. Among the innovations to be featured are climate-smart crop varieties such as maize, rice, sorghum, and vegetables.

According to Dr. Ketiem, KALRO has developed over 100 such crop varieties, alongside various technologies intended to enhance food security, promote climate resilience, and increase farm productivity.

KALRO Board Chairman Dr. Thuo Mathenge encouraged farmers, entrepreneurs, investors, and scientists to participate in the conference, showcase their projects, and collaborate with researchers. The event will also spotlight KALRO’s efforts in leveraging digital tools and artificial intelligence to improve agricultural services across the country.
