The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a teacher on allegations that she solicited Ksh300,000 from three unemployed teachers in exchange for helping them secure jobs through the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

In a statement published on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the commission revealed the identity of the arrested teacher as Lilian Nelima Buluma. She was taken to custody on Monday, October 12, following initial investigations into the complaints laid against her.

According to the press release, Buluma “demanded Ksh100,000 from each of the three job seekers,” for a total sum of Ksh300,000.

The EACC announced that the arrest followed several complaints that the teacher had approached three unemployed individuals and solicited bribes in exchange for offering them jobs.

The alleged offense involves the misuse of authority to solicit bribes in exchange for employment opportunities. The statement does not specify whether the accused teacher is yet to pay the bribes or not.

The TSC is a government agency tasked with recruiting and managing teachers in the public education system in Kenya. Employment in the public education system is dependent on the commission and its guidelines.

The arrested teacher is yet to enter any plea in relation to the allegations against her. In other words, she is not yet proven guilty of the charges.

The allegations are part of a larger campaign by the EACC to unearth and prosecute officials dealing in bribery and corruption. No further information was provided concerning the specific charges that the teacher is facing.
