On Tuesday morning, students from Cheptenye Boys High School in Belgut have no place to sleep after a fire burnt down two dormitories.

Staff members said the fire started when the students were taking their breakfast. The cause of the inferno was yet to be established.

The  staff members said the students were queuing waiting to be served breakfast when they noticed a cloud of smoke filling the air from the dormitories.

They rushed to the scene attempting to save their belongings but the fire had already engulfed the entire building.

Both the students and the staff members and also members of the community attempted to put out the inferno but were overwhelmed due to the windy condition.

The students belongings were completely destroyed and nothing was saved.

A fire brigade from the county government of Kericho arrived at the school later and could not assist much in putting out the fire.
