Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has stated that the government will not spare anyone found guilty of manipulations Kenyans through religion as the crackdown of rogue preachers continue.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at Victory Revival Church in Tharaka Nithi county, Kithure warned that there in no room for crooked religious leaders who use religion as a way to deceive Kenyans.

“The government will fiercely fight with anyone who is hiding religion to hurt Kenyans,” he said

This comes after the President issued a directive to institute a 17 member task force to review legal and regulatory frameworks governing religious organizations in Kenya.

In a gazette notice dated May 5, the head of state announced that Reverend Mutava Musyimi will chair the committee which will be operational for the next six months.

This was issued after The Shakahola massacre came to light, which led to the discovery of 253 bodies as of Sunday.

The government is working hand in hand with security agencies and relevant authorities to inquire more into the deaths of the followers of Paul Mackenzie.

The search of the cult members will extend to neighboring Tsavo East National Park as autopsies on the recovered bodies continues.
