Change in Kenyan export markets as United States overtakes Uganda

Kenya is experiencing a huge change in its exports markets after the United States overtook Uganda becoming the largest importer. Uganda has been for the longest period the highest importer of Kenyan goods. However,this trend has just changed as the USA has just take over the dominance with over 4 billion shillings.

The global super power has seen a surge in consumption of Kenyan made goods. As Kenya continues to push for a full free trade agreement between Nairobi and Washington the increased Trade is a good sign.

According to renowned economists, a country should export more than they import, or at least create a symbolical  balance among the two. No matter the increased trade between the two countries, Kenya still favours China for Imports more than it does the United States.

China accounts for over 18 percent of the country’s total import bill. This has been reciprocated all over Africa,with China establishing dominance. This new Dominance has not rested well with the Americans and the Europeans who are now seeking to control that dominance.

In the middle, African countries are benefiting greatly as this countries try to warm up to the African countries. In the late 1990 and early 2000, the Americans and Europeans were the dominant trade partners for Kenya and Africa in General. However this has since changed as china came in with less conditional and available loans for development.
