Azimio MP’s from the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition have stated that Monday’s protests were just the beginning of a series of similar mass action in coming days.
Calling the protests ‘rehearsal’ the MPs who addressed members of the press outside KICC said Kenyans should anticipate more protests as the opposition continues to pressure the President to listen to their demands.
“Today was just a rehearsal, the real one is coming,”Suna East MP Junet Mohammed said.
The legislators wrecked the National Police Service’s stance that the protests are unlawful saying the mass action is in the interests of Kenyans.
“Baba himself is a human Gazette notice. If he decides that today we will be out fighting for the rights of Kenyans , then we are out there. This is not the end of it.” another MP said,” This is just a taste of it, We are going to do it as long as Baba says we for it.”
Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo accompanied by MPs Amina Mnyazi, Opiyo Wandayi and Ken Choga were among lawmakers said to have been arrested at Nairobi CBD district.
They claimed that their security had been withdrawn and attacked by the Kenya Kwanza administration preventing them from exercising their rights as Kenyans.
Raila And Martha Karua
Even though the protests began as early as 8AM, and by noon protestors and the police were involved in a game of cat and mouse, Raila and his second in command Martha Karua were yet to be seen in the streets , only posting on Social media in support of the protests.
The Azimio leader, tweeted a video of protestors outside the KICC saying” Nimeona kazi imeanza tuko njiani nasi.#DateWithDestiny20thMarch.”
Meanwhile his counterpart Martha Karua said “The illegitimate Ruto regime control suspend the right to peaceful procession and unleash a reign of terror on Kenyans.”
