Kenya’s Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua revealed on Friday, March 17 revealed why he was yet to move into  his official residence in Karen.

He said that the house needed a lot of renovations.

Speaking during an interview with Gikuyu stations, Gachagua said the house rooftop was leaking and toilets were not working.

“The official residence of the Deputy President was in a bad shape when I became Deputy President. The rooftop was leaking, toilets not working , the borehole pump was broken down, the house was totally in bad shape,’ he said.

During the interview, Gachagua said Ruto had to use his money to run his office.

Former Treasury CS, Ukur Yatani said Gachagua’s office demanded Ksh.1.5 B days after the 2022 elections which the DP said rightfully belonged to his office.

‘They said that the money that had been with held should be paid. The amount disbursed by the Treasury was a computation of the money that had not been paid.”

“My office did not ask for any money, it just received allocation because it is a public office. The amount mentioned was deducted when President was still the Deputy President.” he said.
