Lake Naivasha residents have been left devastated and in shock after a seven year old boy drowned in the lake.
The boy was with his friends and had decided to go for a swimming expedition at the Tarambeta beach in Kasarani estate when the incident happened.
One witness, Joshua Salat, said the boys were swimming when suddenly one of them was swept away by the strong currents.
“The other boys watched helplessly as the waves carried him away, deep into the waters. The boys raised alarms but by the time help arrived, it was too late. We managed to retrieve the body from the water. It was then taken to a private mortuary here in Naivasha,” Joshua said.
“Parents should be on the look out during this holiday. Children are adventurous a lot and we must keep watch of them,” he added.
Naivasha OCPD Mr. Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident, adding that they were investigating the incident.
According to the residents , many young people, most of them fishermen, have drowned in the lake.
