ODM party leader has been put on the spot over handing direct nomination tickets to his preferred candidates. Raila while on a campaign tour in western Kenya issued direct Nominations to a number of aspirants under the ODM party. This action led to massive defections from the party.

ODM party has been on the spotlight for the last three elections cycles as having the worst and unfair nomination process. It is believed that the party chooses politicians who are close to the party boss.

Suba South Member of Parliament has come out to defend his party leader’s action. The Minority leader in the National assembly indicated that the party leader has the right to pick his preferred candidate.

Mbadi added that, Raila has the right to choose who to work with under the ODM party. This is not the first time that direct nomination tickets are being issued by the former premier.

Among those who were handed the nomination ticket include Fernandes Barasa( Aspirant Kakamega Governor) Tindi Mwale (MP Butere)  Hamadi Boga (gubernatorial aspirant Kilifi). Other include Titus Khamala (lurambi) Peter Nabulindo( Matungu).

This direct tickets were issued in areas where ODM is considered a strong party. However political analyst are having a field day. Some have been quoted indicating that ODM is panicking because Kenya Kwanza is chipping into their stronghold.

According to sources that spoke with https://www.iconnews.co.ke team. Western Kenya will be a battle zone during the next general elections. Both presidential candidates might dividing the votes equally.

If this happens then the Azimio la umoja brigade will have lost as western Kenya is considered their stronghold.
