Azimio party leader Raila Odinga says the antigovernmental protests set to start on Wednesday will be a game changer for the nation.
He announced this despite the government warning that the three day protests will not take place.
“Starting on Wednesday, be ready for the game-changing Maandamano,” Raila Odinga said on Monday.
Earlier on Monday, the Azimio party stated that the plan to hold the protests from Wednesday to Friday is still on despite the warnings from the government.
Speaking at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi said they will not cower from exercising their constitutional mandate of holding peaceful protests.
Opiyo argued that no authority can prevent them from holding the planned protests be it the President or any institution.
“The peaceful protests planned for Wednesday , Thursday and Friday this week are on as earlier declared by our leaders. These protests will go on line with Article 37 of our constitution which provides for freedom of peaceful assembly and picketing and no authority has got power to suspend the operations of Article 37, no person, authority, agency,” he said.
He also said that the signature collection to remove the President is still on and of course it will happen simultaneously with the protests.
