DCI detectives are investigating the mysterious death of a Nairobi -based priest who passed away hours after checking into a lodging with his girlfriend.

The deceased, 43-year old, Joseph Kariuku Wanjiku, was from St. Peters Ruai. He checked into Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga on Friday, July 8,2023,accompanied by a lady.

According to police reports, the priest suddenly experienced dizziness, prompting the lady to contact the hotel management for assistance.

He was rushed to Kenol Hospital in Murang’a, but he was pronounced dead upon his arrival.

His sudden demise raised suspicion, leading authorities to launch an investigation due to the incident.

“One joseph Kariuki Wanjiku aged 43 years old, a Catholic priest of Archdiocese of Nairobi and farmer at Mangu area checked in at the said hotel together with his girlfriend who also happens to be her colleague at the workplace in Ruai,” the police report read.
