Two police officers stationed at Kinjo Police Patrol Base in Meru County were arrested on Sunday, October 11, 2026, over an allegation of defiling a three-and-a-half-year-old girl.
The suspects, Police Constables Nicholas Njagi and James Mutabari, were detained at Kariene Police Station, according to a report by Citizen Digital. The incident is alleged to have taken place at a police house, with the child’s mother rushing to the scene after observing that the girl was upset following a night out.
The report revealed that two other children, aged seven and 12, were sent to search for the girl and allegedly found her in a house occupied by one of the policemen.
Meanwhile, the child was taken to Nairobi Women’s Hospital in Meru for a medical examination, during which a P3 form was filled.
According to the report, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Imenti Central Sub-County visited the scene and collected two bedsheets for testing. In addition, an identification parade was conducted at Kariene Police Station, where the child identified the two policemen.
However, the medical findings, together with the identification and exhibits retrieved by the detectives, will determine the course of action against the arrested officers. This is in addition to the evidence to be gathered by the detectives.
The two policemen were expected to appear before the Githongo Law Courts, where the prosecutors would apply for a stay in their bails as they continue investigating the case.
