A 36-year old man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked a woman,, robbing her Ksh.200 before raping her in Mbooni, Makueni county.
According to a DCI statement, the suspect, Munyao Muoka, is said to have ambushed the woman on her way home from the market on Tuesday night, robbed her and forced himself on her before fleeing.
‘According to the victim, she was headed home at around 10:30pm from the market where she plies her trade, when the man who demanded money from her accosted her,” stated DCI.
“When she became hesitant, the man placed a knife on her neck and snatched her day’s sales of Ksh.200.He then covered her mouth with a leso that she carrying , before doing the heinous act.”
DCI said after the heinous act, the victim ran towards Mukelenzu market while calling for help prompting members of public to pursue the perpetrator.
Angry residents attacked the suspect, but he was rescued by police who took him and the woman to Kalawa Sub-county Hospital.
DCI further stated that a kitchen knife that the suspect had used to scare the victim was recovered and kept as an exhibit.
