Ailing Kenyans who are struggling to pay hospital bills will now find help after the Kenyatta National Hospital launched the ‘Adopt a patient’ initiative.

The initiative which launched by the Wife of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Tessie Mudavadi, on Tuesday, May 30,2023, will enable well-wishers to support struggling patients who have huge hospital bills.

“We want to start adopting families people who can’t pay their bills. We will be working near NHIF to ensure the programme is sustainable,” KNH CEO Evason Kamuri said.

The hospital indicated that 42 patients were identified for adoption through collaboration with Ushiriki Wema and Ahadi Kenya.

The hospital’s management acknowledged that the hospital was burdened with bills that add up to more than Ksh.8B. The amount recorded came from patients who were unable to pay their bills.
