In Kirinyaga county residents are in shock after the body of 57-year old woman was discovered in her home.
Dorcas Wangeci’s body was discovered after residents put out the fire at around 10P.m on Monday, according to police commander Wilson Koskei.
“Nobody was injured as she was alone in the compound and her children live in Nairobi,”he said
The residents, led by Abraham Mwangi said efforts to put out the fire were slow as there was no water nearby.
“We thought there was nobody in the house as her cows remined tied in the compound the whole of yesterday and we were shocked to find her body in bed,” Mwangi said.

Some of the residents want the matter investigated, saying it was unusual that the woman’s body was recovered from her bed, and at the same time two gas cylinders found after the fire was put out had not exploded.
“They wanted to hide the evidence, and that is why they set her house on fire we are even wondering why the gas cylinders did not explode,” one of the residents said
The police commander Wilson Koskei said police have launched investigation despite residents treating the residents treating the incident as arson
The body of the deceased’s was moved to Kibugi funeral home awaiting postmortem.
