Five people were on Wednesday killed during the standoffs between police and anti-protestors in Machakos and Kajiado counties.

Three of the deceased were shot dead around the Mlolongo Expressway Toll Station after barricading and vandalising the road which in turn disrupted traffic on the route.

Police revealed that the protestors , who had allegedly thrown stones at a Quick Mart Supermarket adjacent the toll station, wanted to loot the supermarket after destroying the Mlolongo Expressway.

Police secure the infrastructure unit and closed the express way, further halting traffic on the route that connects Mlolongo to Nairobi.

The other two casualties lost their lives in similar demonstrations in Kitengela.
