Drama as Police lob teargas at Azimio MPs during the IEBC demonstration

Drama was witnessed along Anniversary towers in Nairobi today as police lobed teargas canisters at Azimio MPs. The MPs had gathered at the IEBC headquarters in a bid to protest and demonstrate the interdiction of IEBC deputy CEO Ruth Kulundu. According to Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang’ the coalition is very angry at how the CEO is treating his deputy.

The demonstration was however short lived as the police arrived immediately and dispersed the gathering crowd. The gates to the IEBC headquarters were however closed with Azimio MPs claiming that Chebukati fled the offices. The coalition had issued a 72-hr moratorium to the Chebukati led team to reinstate Kulundu. However, Their pleas fell on deaf years.

Azimio was the main loser of the recently concluded presidential election. The team moved to the supreme court citing testimony from four dissenting commissioners. The supreme court , upheld the election terming the petition as hot air something that didn’t sit well with the Azimio coalition.

The Failed Demo’s

The coalition is now calling for the disbandment of the whole electoral body. Their main challengers, Kenya Kwanza are calling for the removal of the Four dissenting commissioners. The dissenting commissioners include the IEBC vice chair madam Juliana Cherera.

The whole affair today at the IEBC headquarters has however elicited different views from Kenyans. Some Kenyans indicate that the Azimio MPs led side has lost touch and are no longer capable of well planned demonstrations. This sentiments have hit the nail on the head as this demonstrations can’t be compared with the previous ones.
