DCI Deny Pastor Ezekiel’s Request To Withdraw Ksh.50M from Frozen Accounts

Post by : Hillary Musyoki

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations say that any access and withdrawal of money as requested by Pastor Ezekiel will hinder the ongoing investigations.

Pastor Ezekiel filed an application seeking to be allowed to withdraw at least Ksh.50M from his frozen accounts to enable him to use in his ministry and school.

However, the head officer in charge of the case Martin Munene told the court that unfrezzing part or wholly all the accounts will hinder the investigations adding that the court should allow them to finish up the investigations.

During the hearing, Pastor Ezekiel, through his lawyers Danstan Omari, Cliff Ombeta, Sam Nyaberi and Shadrack Wamboi asked the magistrate to allow pastor Ezekiel to operate two accounts held in Cooperative bank.

The cross examining officer, told the court that there were at least 288 bank accounts that were of interest.

16 accounts held in Cooperative bank, 9 with NCBA, 1 Equity bank, 1KCB and 1bank account held at HFC.

The court was further told that investigations are ongoing adding that they have not yet received a report from Safaricom.
