Post by : Hillary Musyoki

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has launched the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service(KUCCPS) portal for 2022’s KCSE candidates.

Speaking at the University of Nairobi on Wednesday, the CS said that all the 869,782 candidates will be qualified to join any institution of their choice.

The CS stated that out of the mentioned number of candidates, 173,127 candidates who attained C+ will enroll for degree courses.

He further added that all institutions have already met all conditions required to enroll students and have already published courses fees for different study programs.

“This will guide students to make choices based on their income levels of their households,” said CS Machogu.

The CS also added that, upon selection, the student will be given the option to apply for government scholarships from the university fund as guided by the new funding model announced by the President.

“They will also have opportunities to apply for HELB will will be allocated upon using a full-proof tool used to asses students to be awarded scholarships,” added the CS.

Scholarships

However, the government scholarships will only be acceptable for students who will join public universities and not those who choose private universities.

“I wish to reiterate that students who will select courses in Public Universities will be eligible to access both the government scholarships and loans, while those who will select Private Universities will be eligible to government loans only,” said the CS.

The students will be guided on how to apply for scholarships and loans by their respective institutions.

The CS added that at least 45,000 students from vulnerable backgrounds will access free university education as the government will fund their full education ride.
