During a Media briefing on vaccine and Covid 19 by Cs Mutahi Kagwe on Sunday, Kenya has decided to start vaccinating adolescents from the age of 15 to 18 years old. those in the age group. Although don’t form the bulk of the cases are considered as main carriers according to a statement by the health cabinet secretary.
While speaking to the media on Sunday 21st November in the afternoon, Kagwe indicated that only the Pfizer vaccine will be used for this group of Kenyans.
Pfizer has received the go ahead from the pharmacy and poisons board to be used in emergency for the group mentioned above.
Target
The government has been targeting to vaccinate over 10 million Kenyans by December this year a move that seems a bit to far. the vaccines that are available in Kenya include the following:
- Pfizer
- Moderna
- Johnson& Johnson
- Astrazeneca
The country has greatly benefited from donations of the various vaccines from countries like the USA, United Kingdom,France, Denmark among others.
With the government targeting such a huge number of the population to vaccinate, stringent measures are being put in place.

It was declared that as from 21st December 2021 anyone who is not vaccinated will not be allowed to access government services and even club owners are being told to enforce the rule.
In order to achieve the 10 million target by the end of 2021 and the 30 million target by the end of 2022, the CS indicated even the young people in our country need to get vaccinated.
