Battle to Replace Senator Kangata Gains steam

The political battle to replace Murang’a senator Irungu Kangata has gained steam. this after a new contestant declared interest in the race. The new entrant is a popular gospel musician from Gatanga constituency.

There is a recent surge in celebrity politics after a number Musicians, Motivational speakers and Comedians declare interest to vie. This interests have been spread across the political divide with some even going for the presidency.

Among the top contestants include Reuben Kigame who is vying for the presidency. Jalango who is going for the Langata parliamentary seat. Others include Ann wamuratha and Loise Kim who are going for the Women Representative position in kiambu county.

Helen Kigia who is vying for the Murang’a senatorial position becomes the latest celebrity to try politics. She has joined a race that has so far been dominated by men.

Her main Competitors include former senator Ambassador Kembi Gitura, Professor Peter Kagwanja, business man Joe Nyutu, Political analyst and Commentator Kamau Mutuota.

While the politician is seeking to join the race under a jubilee party ticket, most other politicians are considering the hustler led party.

Currently UDA is considered the strongest party in Murang’a county giving the candidates under the banner an added advantage. Murang’a county is among the counties in the country where residents almost vote in a six piece outfit.

 Voting Pattern 

Currently all Members of parliament, Women Representative, Senator and  Governor belong to the jubilee party. This is a clear indication that who ever wins the presidential election in Murang’a has a very strong chance of scooping the other positions.

The current senator Irungu Kangata has his eyes set on the governor’s position and according to polls he is the leader. Kangata has enjoyed a very steady political career. He has never lost an election since he declared his interest for elective office.
