The Azimio Party alleges that the government has withdrawn the security of its party leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka, in what could be a planned assassination plan.

Addressing the press on Tuesday evening, Azimio’s second in arm and Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua stated that all elected MPs linked to the political party have also had their security withdrawn in a similar manner.

She stated that Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka are entitled to security from the state by virtue of having served as Prime Minister and vice presidents in the previous governments.

She said that by withdrawing the security The President’s government is acting in breach of the Constitution.

“Instead of the free and democratic nation that the 2010 Constitution sought to grant to Kenyans, Ruto is trying to re-invent a police state of the 1890s and the Kenya Special Branch plain clothes officers and terror machine.” she stated.

“Last night , Azimio leaders including former prime minister and our leader Raila Odinga, and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka had their security withdrawn. This is significant because those two offices are guaranteed security  by an Act of Parliament, it is not unjustified. This is illegal and all Members of Parliament from Azimio who actively support the cause had their security withdrawn.”

She further said that the act to revoke Raila and Kalonzo’s  right to protection as enshrined the laws of the land is merely an attempt by the government to force them into stopping their mass action calls.

The Narc party leader went on to say in doing so, The Kenya Kwanza government is exposing the two opposition leaders to possible assassinations’ attempts.

“This is suspending the Constitution illegally, engaging in intimidation and blackmail. They’re also setting the stage for assassination’s promised by Moses Kuria on his social media and public pronouncement.” she said.
