A section of Thika Superhighway between Roysambu and Githurai 45 has been temporarily closed after a petroleum tanker overturned, spilling fuel on the road. According to Kenya National Highways Authority(KENHA) police officers are already on the scene controlling traffic and ensuring safe clearance of the tanker.
“KeNHA wishes to notify the public that a section of Thika Superhighway between Roysambu and Githurai has been temporarily closed after a petroleum tanker overturned, spilling fuel on the road ,”KENHA said.
Five months ago A truck transporting petrol had reportedly caught fire at Thika road between Githurai 45 and Kahawa Wendani.It was believed to have been caused by overheating of the engine or external cause like friction and oil spills.
“I have been stuck here in Roysambu for two hours now. This part of Thika road should be declared a black spot.” said a motorist.
