President William Ruto will travel to Kisii and Nyamira counties between November 9 and 11, 2026 for a three-day development tour that will include launching of road projects.
South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro said on Monday, November 2, that the President will conduct a development tour of the Gusii region to review ongoing projects and launch new development projects.
“H.E. Dr William Samoei Ruto will be in Gusii nation to launch a series of developmental projects between Monday 9th Nov 2026 and 11th Nov 2026,” Osoro said in a statement.
The MP added that the detailed schedule will be out once finalised. Some of the projects include the Sengenya-Openda-Karungu-Kiagware Road and Nyakeyo-Nyamasege-Nyakorere-Moma Roads in South Mugirango Constituency.
Osoro also hinted that there will be major announcements during the tour. “There will be major announcements during this visit. There will be surprises.” More details of the other projects have not been revealed. However, the launching of road projects will be one of the major development issues that will be addressed.
Better road connectivity is a key issue for residents and businesses in the area as farmers and traders will benefit from improved connectivity.
The two road projects mentioned by Osoro will improve connectivity in South Mugirango. However, he did not give any details on how much the projects will cost, who the contractors are and when they will be completed.
The detailed schedule should give more clarity on what other projects the President will launch, inspect or commission.

The visit in November will be Ruto’s second visit to the Gusii region after he toured Kisii and Nyamira counties for four days in April 2026. During the visit he launched and inspected various road, water, market, health, education and sports projects.
He launched road upgrades in Kisii County covering around 50km in Nyaribari Chache and commissioned the 11.3km Sameta-Egetuki-Ikoba Road. He also launched road upgrades on the Etago-Ekonamogende-Magenche/Nyamaiya Road in South Mugirango.
Other projects included expanding Gusii Stadium, Kisii Water Project and Modern Markets.
In Nyamira the government had mentioned plans to improve education and health infrastructure including facilities related to Kenya Medical Training Colleges. This latest visit will give an opportunity to see how far the projects announced have come and there will be more commitments.
The announcement comes just days after a previously scheduled visit by Ruto to the Gusii region was postponed.
North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, who is the chairman of the Gusii Members of Parliament Caucus said leaders had requested that the President postpone his visit as there were many programmes to complete.
“We all met in Nairobi. All MPs supporting the government. The President was coming last Friday (October 23) and staying until Monday (October 26). We begged him to give us more time as we have programmes to complete so we can put our house in order,” Nyamoko said.
The postponement has brought attention to how far some of the projects announced during the President’s visit have come. For example the Suneka Airstrip.
Ruto has now completed a three-day development tour of the Ukambani Region. His schedule included launching of roads, affordable housing projects and other government projects. Now that the new dates have been announced attention will be on the detailed schedule and what commitments the President will make.
