Mombasa: Traffic Officer Dies After Motorist Run Him Over

In Mombasa, traffic check turned ugly as a motorist run over a traffic police officer in an attempt to evade a traffic stop.

According to a police report on Tuesday, the traffic officer, Julius Marwa was controlling traffic flow at Buxton junction when he stooped a motorist for a traffic check.

Osman Jama Abdi, who was driving the Silvers Toyota Ractis, declined to turn off the engine to allow officer Marwa to conduct the check.

The officer is then said to have  opened the driver’s door to turn off the ignition when Abdi grabbed his hand and immediately steeped on the gas, speeding off.

 

After driving for a distance of about 200M,  Marwa is said to have been pushed out of the car and got run over by the rear right wheel, sustaining a head injury and fractures on the public.

“He was rushed to Jocham hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” read part of the statement.

His body has been taken to the hospital’s mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Investigations done led to Abdi’s arrest who was found locked inside his car at a basement parking within beach road estate in Nyali.
