The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has changed the timetable for Ward-Level Grassroots Elections which will be conducted by members of its political arm, UDA-Kenya, in selected counties in October. In a notice on Thursday, Sept 24, 2026, the party’s National Elections Board (NEB) informed voters that it had “reviewed the electoral programme by replacing the dates contained in an earlier directive.”

“Following due considerations and deliberations on the electoral programme the National Elections Board (NEB) has reviewed and revised the schedule for the Ward-Level Grassroots Elections,” the notice stated.

According to the new programme, Kisii and Nandi will conduct their ward-level elections on Friday October 2, while Kericho, Baringo, Bungoma, Isiolo, Marsabit, Wajir and Mombasa will vote on Saturday, October 3. UDA has set a polling day deadline of 5pm on Monday, September 28 for members in counties to register to vote on the two days. Another round of elections is scheduled to take place later in the month. Samburu will vote on Friday, October 16 while Tana River, Vihiga, Mandera, Nakuru, Bomet and Tharaka Nithi have been scheduled to vote on Saturday, October 17.

Deadline for registration for voters in these counties has been set at 5pm on Saturday, October 10. Voting in all counties will be from 8am to 5pm. The board, also chaired by Anthony Mwaura in its advisory capacity, has directed party members, polling centre officials and other stakeholders to take note of the revised scheme “and make the necessary arrangements accordingly.”

“All concerned Party Members, Polling Centre Officials, and Stakeholders are hereby required to take note of the revised election schedule and make the necessary arrangements accordingly,” the notice stated.

The UDA notice supersedes a polling scheme it had announced on September 12, 2026, in which it scheduled Phase II ward-level elections to be held on October 3 in 13 counties – Kisii, Nandi, Samburu, Vihiga, Nakuru, Mombasa, Embu, Meru, Baringo, Bungoma, Isiolo, Wajir, and Marsabit.

EDA’s grassroots elections are part of preparations for the 2027 General Elections as the party sets up structures at the county level as provided for in its statutes. UDA – Kenya members in the affected counties will have to follow the revised schedule to cast their ballots, rather than the procedures contained in the earlier directives. The notice did not elaborate on the reasons for amending the election programme, only stating that the National Election Board reviewed the electoral program “following deliberations.”
