Edmond Ruto was placed in police custody after stabbing his girlfriend Cyntia Chepleng’at to death six times. Ruto pleaded guilty of stabbing his girlfriend and blames his actions on ‘temporary madness’.The third year Egerton university student testified before high court judge Joel Ngugi says he has changed for the better after serving four years imprisonment Nakuru GK prisons.
“I am the cause of everything and it pains me because my actions brought unimaginable pain to both Chelang’at’s family and mine. I am sorry and I regret everything .If I knew what I know now, may be Chelang’at would still be alive today,” said Ruto as quoted by the Standard.
Lawyer Kipkoech Ng’etich who is representing Chelang’at’s family ,dismissed Ruro’s pleas as she stated they were just pretence.
“Ruto’s family had time between 2018 and 2021 but they did not ask for forgiveness until 2022. Their action not in good faith,” The lawyer told the court.

The lawyer also added that Ruto should act as an example to other men who use their wives as punching bags,as harsh penalties should be imposed on him.He is to receive his sentence on September 29.
