The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has been named the Lead Destination Partner for Africa Global PR Week (AGPRW) 2026, a strategic partnership aimed at showcasing the country’s Magical Kenya tourism brand to influential communications professionals, policymakers, media leaders and business executives from across Africa and beyond.
The three-day summit, scheduled for August 26 to 28, 2026, will be held at the Mövenpick Hotel & Residences in Nairobi. Organisers describe it as one of Africa’s leading public relations and strategic communications conferences, bringing together delegates to discuss nation branding, reputation management, digital communication, artificial intelligence and the future of African storytelling.
As Lead Destination Partner, KTB will use the summit to promote Kenya’s tourism experiences under the Magical Kenya brand while highlighting the country’s growing reputation as a destination for international conferences, business events and leisure travel.
KTB Chief Executive Officer June Chepkemei said the collaboration reflects the agency’s strategy of using global platforms to strengthen Kenya’s tourism profile and attract high-value international events.
“By combining KTB’s national marketing mandate with the private sector’s commercial agility, we are fully prepared to secure the world’s highest-impact convenings and firmly place Kenya among Africa’s leading MICE destinations within the next five years,” Chepkemei said.
According to the organisers, Africa Global PR Week 2026 will convene communications executives, government spokespersons, corporate affairs leaders, editors, marketing professionals and public relations practitioners from across the continent. The conference programme includes keynote addresses, panel discussions and masterclasses focusing on strategic communication, nation branding, crisis management and Africa’s global narrative.
The partnership comes as Kenya continues to position itself as a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), a sector that has become an important pillar of the country’s tourism strategy. By hosting international conferences, Kenya seeks to increase visitor arrivals, strengthen its hospitality industry and expand the global visibility of its tourism products.
Africa Global PR Week organisers say the summit is designed to bring together governments, businesses, non-governmental organisations and communications professionals to explore how strategic communication can influence economic growth, investment and Africa’s image on the global stage.
“The narrative of Africa is being written today. Be part of the authorship,” organisers state on the event’s official website, describing the conference’s mission to amplify authentic African storytelling.
For KTB, the partnership represents more than destination marketing. It provides an opportunity to expose influential communicators and decision-makers to Kenya’s tourism offerings, culture and hospitality while reinforcing Nairobi’s status as a preferred host city for regional and international events.
The collaboration also aligns with the government’s broader efforts to diversify tourism beyond traditional leisure travel by expanding conference tourism and attracting high-value international gatherings. Industry stakeholders say such events generate demand for hotels, transport, restaurants and other tourism-related services while enhancing Kenya’s visibility in key source markets.
With preparations for the August summit underway, both KTB and Africa Global PR Week organisers expect the partnership to strengthen the Magical Kenya brand while showcasing the country’s capacity to host world-class conferences and position itself as one of Africa’s leading destinations for business and leisure tourism.
