Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kirinyaga Senator James Murango and Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Maina have emerged as the top-performing legislators in their respective categories, according to the latest CountyTrak™ Performance Index released by InfoTrak on July 1, 2026.
The nationwide survey ranked Members of Parliament, Senators and Women Representatives based on public approval, with respondents assessing leaders on factors including the delivery of campaign promises, transparency, accountability, accessibility, responsiveness to constituents and overall service delivery.
Babu Owino topped the list of Members of Parliament with an approval rating of 80 per cent, making him the highest-rated MP in the country. Kabuchai MP Joseph Kalasinga followed in second place with 78 per cent, while Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro ranked third after receiving a 76 per cent approval rating.

The rankings mark a notable shift from previous surveys, where Ndindi Nyoro had consistently featured among the country’s highest-rated legislators. The latest findings suggest changing public perceptions as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.
Several other MPs also recorded strong approval ratings, reflecting broad public recognition of their performance. Among them were Taveta MP John Bwire, Samburu West MP Josephine Lesuuda, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek, Keiyo South MP Gideon Kimaiyo, Belgut MP Nelson Koech and Mkurweini MP John Kaguchia, all of whom received approval ratings above 70 per cent.
In the Senate category, Kirinyaga Senator James Murango emerged as the country’s best-performing senator with a 69 per cent approval rating. Nyandarua Senator John Methu was ranked second with 68 per cent, while Murang’a Senator Joel Nyutu placed third after receiving a 65 per cent approval rating.

Other senators appearing among the country’s highest performers included Nandi Senator Samson Cherarkey, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Baringo Senator Vincent Kiprono, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo and Samburu Senator Steve Lelegwe.
In the Women Representative category, Kirinyaga’s Jane Maina emerged as the highest-rated leader with a 67 per cent approval score. West Pokot Woman Representative Rael Kasiwai ranked second with 61 per cent, while Samburu Woman Representative Pauline Lenguris and Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda tied for third after each recorded 60 per cent.

The survey also listed Makueni Woman Representative Rose Mumo, Turkana Woman Representative Cecilia Ngitit, Nandi Woman Representative Cynthia Muge, Homa Bay Woman Representative Bensuda Osogo, Kitui Woman Representative Irene Kasalu and Tharaka Nithi Woman Representative Susan Nduyo among the country’s top-performing women legislators.
According to InfoTrak, the CountyTrak™ Performance Index was conducted between January and April 2026 and involved interviews with 87,286 respondents drawn from all 47 counties, 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards. Participants were asked to rate their elected leaders on a scale of one to ten, with one representing very poor performance and ten representing excellent performance.
Unlike assessments that focus on parliamentary attendance or legislative output alone, the survey measured public perceptions of leadership by evaluating how effectively elected officials have fulfilled campaign commitments, managed public resources, communicated with constituents and remained accessible to the people they represent.
InfoTrak noted that the findings reflect citizens’ experiences with their elected leaders rather than objective measures of parliamentary performance. The research firm said the survey was designed to capture public sentiment on how leaders are performing in their representative roles at the constituency and county levels.
The release of the rankings comes as political activity begins to intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election, with elected leaders increasingly seeking to strengthen their standing among voters. While the survey does not predict electoral outcomes, it provides an indication of current public approval and highlights the qualities that many Kenyans value most in their elected representatives, including accountability, visibility, responsiveness and delivery on campaign promises.
