7 officers Arrested for The Murder Of a 28-year-old Kenyan National

In Virginia, United States, seven officers were presented in court for the alleged murder of a 28-year-old Kenyan national.

The victim, identified as Irvo Otieno is said to have met his death after the officers allegedly suffocated him during the intake at mental health facility on March 6,2023.

It is reported that the officers had transferred him from the Henrico County jail to the mental health facility where he was reported dead.

The court was told that the deceased was held on the accounts of 12 minutes by the suspects. At the time he was in handcuffs and leg irons.

Commonwealth Attorney Ann Cabell Baskervill said that there was a 12-minute video validating the testimony.

Preliminary reports presented before the court revealed that the deceased was on treatment for mental illness.

The officers were judged with second-degree murder.

The deceased’s mother, testified that one of the neighbors reported her son for burglary leading to his arrest.

She told the court that she had planned to call her son’s psychiatrist for a special movement to a mental health facility when the police barged into their home and forcefully arrested him.

“The family is truly grief-stricken after learning of the brutal nature of Ivro’s death and his humane treatment in the hours preceding his death. the public and experienced mental health professionals alike, will be applied when the facts of the case are fully made known,” Krudy stated.
