The leader of the Wiper Patriotic Front, Kalonzo Musyoka, will be touring Migori and Homa Bay Counties on Thursday and Friday as part of his six-stop Ukombozi Tour.

The two-day tour begins in Migori County on Thursday November 5 followed by a tour of Homa Bay County on Friday November 6. The leader will interact with the public in Ntimaru, Kehancha, Migori Town, Oyugis and Kendu Bay Counties as well as visiting the Tom Mboya Mausoleum.

Kalonzo announced the tour on Tuesday November 3. The tour will enable the former Vice-President to interact with the public in parts of Nyanza where Raila Odinga, the late former Prime Minister, and his Orange Democratic Movement had a strong political presence.

The tour comes as opposition leaders jostle for position and negotiate their approach to the 2027 presidential election.

On the first day of the tour, Kalonzo will make three stops in Migori County. He will begin his tour at Ntimaru in Kuria at 12pm. He will then travel to Kehancha in Kuria at 2pm. Lastly, he will end the day at Posta Grounds in Migori Town arriving at 4pm.

On the second day of the tour, Friday November 6, the group will begin with a visit to the Tom Mboya Mausoleum at 9.30am. They will then travel to Oyugis Town in Homa Bay County at 1pm. Finally, they will conclude the day at Kendu Bay Town at 4pm.

Overall the tour will see Kalonzo interacting with the public in various communities within the two days. The group will also visit the Tom Mboya Mausoleum. The public who wish to attend any of the meetings can easily find out when and where they will be held.

Kalonzo’s visit coincides with opposition leaders negotiating who should lead any united opposition against President William Ruto. The former Vice-President has shown his desire to lead the opposition into the election and has also denied any suggestions that he should be part of the President’s government.

” I have seen all these headlines that Kalonzo is being sought after. No! No! Nobody will expect Kalonzo Musyoka to go to government. It’s not possible,” Kalonzo said on Sunday November 1.

This tour will help boost his presence in the political arena. However, it does not confirm that any agreement has been reached on a united presidential candidate.

The two Counties are part of the larger Nyanza region where Raila Odinga had a strong political base. Kalonzo has worked closely with Raila in previous opposition coalitions and even ran as his running mate.

This means that Kalonzo will be engaging with the public in the area. However, this does not guarantee that he will receive support from the public or political leaders. Since Raila’s passing, uncertainty around the future of his movement and the alignment of political leaders in the region has become a key issue. The tour will enable Kalonzo to engage directly with the public.

Whilst we know where Kalonzo will be, we do not know what policies or pledges he will be announcing. This will allow the Wiper leader to directly communicate his agenda to the public. For now, we know that the confirmed tour will run from Thursday November 5 to Friday November 6. There will be three stops in Migori and Homa Bay Counties.
