President William Ruto has condoled with People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua over the passing away of her father Mwalimu Jackson Karua. President Ruto said he has heard the sad news of the demise of the man who served the community with humility.

“I have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing away of Mwalimu Jackson Karua, father of Martha Karua. Mwalimu Karua was dedicated to teaching and served the community with humility leaving a deep legacy long after his time,” President Ruto said in a condolence message on Sunday, September 27.

The Head of State said he joins Martha Karua, her family, relatives, friends, and well-wishers in mourning the loss.

“We join Martha, the Karua family, relatives, friends, and well-wishers in mourning this loss and paying respect to a wonderful human being who led a life of purpose and service to the community,” Ruto added.

President Ruto said he sends his sincere thoughts and prayers to Martha and her family as they grieve over the loss and ask God’s intervention for courage and strength. Martha Karua confirmed the shocking news of her father’s death that occurred on Sunday morning.

According to Karua, she and her siblings paid their last respects to the family patriarch in Kirinyaga before she left for Nairobi.

“Earlier today, I went to Kirinyaga to visit my father. My siblings and I spent time with him and sang his favorite gospel hymn, little knowing it was his last request,” Karua said. “On my way back to Nairobi, I was informed that my beloved father had left us,” Karua added.

She described her father as a great man of principle who valued education, good character, and integrity. Karua said although he offered his best to see her excel in life, he had always believed in his daughter.

“My beloved father was a great man of principle who valued education, good character, and integrity. He never doubted me and believed I would amount to something in life,” she said.

Karua said she would greatly miss his advice, guidance, and good company. “His death is a great shock to us as a family and a great loss to the people of Kenya and the Country in general,” she added. Other political leaders such as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former President Uhuru Kenyatta have also condoled with the family over the loss.
