Digital strategist Pauline Njoroge has denied claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed her to handle his money for the Linda Mwananchi movement. Njoroge responded on Thursday, September 17, after Suna East MP Junet Mohamed alleged a day earlier that Uhuru had sent her to manage his funds within the movement.

“The sponsor, Uhuru Kenyatta, has sent a cashier, a woman named Pauline Njoroge, who is counting the money for Linda Mwananchi,” Junet alleged.

This comes weeks after Uhuru responded to President William Ruto’s repeated claims that he is funding Linda Mwananchi.  Speaking in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, on August 16, Uhuru distanced himself from being described as a political “sponsor”, saying Kenyans should be allowed to make their own political choices.

“I do not want to be called a sponsor. I do not want many issues. The choice belongs to the people, and there is no need to force any Kenyan to go to this side or that side,” Uhuru said.

Njoroge questioned why authorities had not moved against her or seized the alleged funds if they believed the former President was financing the movement through her.

“Now that they have the state machinery, and all the instruments of power, why haven’t they waylaid me and taken the money, so that they cripple Linda Mwananchi financially if they actually believe that it’s Uhuru’s money that’s propelling the movement?” she said.

She also referred to the allegation as one made by government-aligned figures during President William Ruto’s rally on Wednesday. The exchange comes as Linda Mwananchi continues to attract political attention, with several opposition figures associated with the movement. Njoroge joined the movement in July after resigning from her position as Deputy Organising Secretary of the Jubilee Party.

However, neither Junet’s allegation nor Njoroge’s response establishes that Uhuru Kenyatta is financing Linda Mwananchi through Njoroge. No evidence of such funding has been presented in the reports reviewed, and Njoroge’s response was framed around challenging the allegation rather than providing independent documentation of the movement’s financing. The latest claims therefore remain an allegation by Junet and a denial by Njoroge, with no independently verified evidence publicly establishing that Njoroge is managing funds from the former President for Linda Mwananchi.
