The Wiper Patriotic Front Party has announced changes to its top leadership, appointing Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, as the Deputy Party Leader-designate, lawyer Ndegwa Njiru as the Spokesperson-designate, and former Member of Parliament Jamleck Kamau as the Chairperson-designate.

The appointments were made public through an official party poster shared on Friday, with the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party congratulating the three leaders on their new responsibilities.

“Congratulations to Hon. Mohamed Ali, Ndegwa Njiru and Hon. Jamleck Kamau on your appointments,” the party said in the announcement shared on its official communication platforms.

The leadership changes come as Wiper continues to strengthen its internal structures amid shifting political alignments and preparations for the country’s next electoral cycle.

Mohamed Ali, a second-term Nyali MP and former investigative journalist widely known for his television programme Jicho Pevu, assumes one of the party’s highest-ranking positions. Since joining elective politics in 2017, Ali has served in Parliament and has recently become more closely aligned with Wiper under Kalonzo Musyoka’s leadership.

As Deputy Party Leader-designate, Mohamed Ali is expected to support the party leader in political mobilisation, party administration and engagement with coalition partners, although the party has not outlined the specific duties attached to the office.

Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, who has gained national attention through his legal representation in several constitutional and public interest matters, has been appointed Spokesperson-designate. In that capacity, he is expected to coordinate the party’s public communication and articulate its positions on national issues.

Former legislator Jamleck Kamau, who previously represented Kiambu Town Constituency in the National Assembly, will serve as Chairperson-designate. The position places him at the centre of the party’s organisational and administrative leadership.

The appointments signal Wiper’s continued efforts to broaden its leadership by bringing together experienced figures from politics, law and public service as it positions itself within the opposition landscape.

The announcement follows a period of increased political activity within the party, with Kalonzo Musyoka seeking to consolidate Wiper’s organisational capacity while strengthening its presence across different regions of the country.

Although the party did not indicate when the appointments would formally take effect, the use of the term “designate” suggests that the officials are expected to assume their roles upon completion of the party’s internal processes.

Political analysts say the appointments are likely to enhance Wiper’s visibility in key regions, particularly at the Coast through Mohamed Ali, while also strengthening the party’s legal and communications teams through the inclusion of Ndegwa Njiru.

Neither Kalonzo Musyoka nor the newly appointed officials issued a detailed statement beyond the announcement at the time of publication. However, the party described the appointments as part of its ongoing efforts to reinforce its leadership ahead of future political engagements.

The latest changes add to a series of organisational adjustments by political parties as they continue to reorganise their leadership structures and prepare for upcoming national political activities.
