In a what can only be described as a politically motivated fundraiser, the AFC leopards football team was able to raise in excess of 8 million shillings to help the club cover expenses.
The event which was attended by who is who in the western political seen was able to raise money for the AFC leopards who have been experiencing financial troubles especially after the covid 19 pandemic. The pandemic led to the closure of public gathering activities which affected the football industry not only in Kenya but also in the world.
Among those present in the event that was presided over by the newly appointed defence cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa and the governor of Kakamega Wycliffe Oparanya were Musalia Mudavadi who gave a donation of 1 million and left before the event was over citing that he had another meeting to attend to.
Tim Wanyonyi the Westlands Member of Parliament and AFC leopards Club patron was also present during the fundraiser, he donated Kshs 400,000 with promise of giving the club Kshs 100,000 per month for the next one year.
