With most senior politicians in the mount Kenya region either supporting Deputy president William Ruto or ODM Party leader Raila Odinga, it seems they have forget one of their one in this move , Wambugu Ngunjiri.
The Nyeri town MP was among the founding members of the kieleweke faction in jubilee that were seen as advent supporters of the handshake and the BBI process. however as many leaders in the faction left jubilee to purely support Raila Odinga it seems Wambugu Ngunjiri didn’t get the Memo.
Wambugu who is a first time Member of parliament for Nyeri town has been very vocal against the deputy president. He has been heard saying that Ruto is not the region’s favoured candidate.
In a recent attempt Wambugu Ngunjiri was heard saying that all leaders from the region who support the DP are not helping him in his hunt to woo the vote-rich region. He also said that the all the voters that Ruto has earned he has done that by himself and he doesn’t need all the other leaders.
Ngunjiri has not been seen in the Azimio la umoja rallies that are being held by Raila Odinga across the country, a move that seemed to signal that the outspoken MP has changed his support from Raila to being neutral.
Most leaders who supported the BBI process have since declared their interest to ditch Jubilee and form other parties, formed other parties or joined the UDA party which is seen as popular in the mountain region.

However in the case of Wambugu Ngunjiri it seems as if he has taken the role of the de facto spokesperson of the now dormant and dead jubilee party.
This move of staying in jubilee has made many political commentators question wambugu’s move and even declare it political suicide but some believe that the MP is still hopeful that the party will reform.
The attacks on William Ruto seem as they are a cry for political relevancy but that is a point that we are going to wait and see.
