Post by : Ann Njambuya

The current headache in both Political camps is the running mate headache. Both the Azimio one Kenya Alliance and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance will have a hard time in picking the running mate for their presidential candidates.

A careful and very selfless process will be required. The current political temperature in the country seems to favour new politicians. Both camps are having a hard time picking the appropriate candidate who will ensure regional balance.

The running mate will also be required to add to the votes basket and strength the chances of their camp winning the elections. However another factor in choosing the  deputy is being employed by the various kingmakers. According to a senior political analyst, the king makers are trying to go for a person who will have the less effect in terms of voter fallout.

The Dilemma

The azimio one Kenya alliance is having a more hard time. this has been attributed to the fact that there are very many contenders who are interested in the deputy position. Kalonzo Musyoka would have seemed like the best fit for the position. However his status quo is being challenged by the likes of Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth. Narc-Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho. Others in the race include PNU party leader Peter Munya and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.

This is an extension from the previous deadline of 28th April 2022.
