The former Deputy speaker of the National Assembly Farrah Maalim nearly died after a bomb was planted on the route to Liboi that he was supposed to pass.

“Our hawk-eyed security officers got intelligence info of IEDs planted in my campaign route to Liboi. They halted my convoy, rerouted us to safe detour & engaged services of bomb disposal experts. They then detonated the IED’s with ease. My profound gratitude to our officers,” said Maalim.

According to Wikipedia An improvised explosive device (IED) is a bomb constructed and deployed in ways other than in conventional military action. It may be constructed of conventional military explosives, such as an artillery shell, attached to a detonating mechanism. IEDs are commonly used as roadside bombs, or homemade bombs.

Maalim says that they had to change course after his security team learnt about the Improvised Explosive Device Planted on their route .
