The death toll of people who have died from the Tharakanithi Bridge bus accident has risen to 33.

Its speculated that the brakes of the bus failed thus making it difficult for the bus driver to properly turn on a sharp bend.This resulted to the bus veering off the road and plunging into a river valley 40 meters below.

”We have lost 24 people in the  modern coast bus accident on the notorious Nithi River Bridge along the Meru-Nairobi Highway,” County commissioner Nobert Komura was earlier quoted by Daily Nation.

Ac cording to sources near https://www.iconnews.co.ke the bus was carrying passengers from Maua to Mombasa before the accident occurred at 6:30pm.

Casualties were rushed to Chuka county referral Hospital and PCEA Chogoria Hospital.
