The wife of a senior officer has been arrested by Thai police of murdering nine people by poisoning them with cyanide.
The woman in her mid 30s , was arrested in Bangkok on Tuesday over the killings , which took place over several years.
Detectives believe money was the motive behind the killings, Royal Thai Police spokesperson Archayon Kraithong told AFP.
The deputy national police chief, Surahate Hakparn told the reporters that the 10th victim had survived after vomiting.
“The suspect went to have dinner with a woman, who threw up but survived. She is also the wife of a policeman.
The woman denied all the charges presented before her.
“The autopsy has found out that there is cyanide in the bodies,”Surachate told the reporters.
“So it means that the victims have taken the poison by mouth.”
Police also suspect the woman of murdering her friend in Ratchaburi province, west of Bangkok, about two weeks ago.
The media said that the victim collapsed on the bank of Mae Klog River . The suspect was also linked to other cyanide poisoning cases in Kanchanaburi and Nakhon Pathom provinces.
Cyanide is a deadly chemical that acts fast, and interferes with the body’s ability to use oxygen.
