Sakaja Forms his Cabinet; forwards nominees to County Assembly

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja. The Governor  has nominated his cabinet announced the same to the public on Wednesday 26th October 2022.The nominees are expected to face the vetting committee in the county assembly of Nairobi. 

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has formed his cabinet and forwarded the names of his nominees to the county assembly. The governor has been working to ensure that the county is working. He has taken the appropriate amount of time to craft a time that will work for the people of Nairobi, said a source close to the governor. Nairobi county has been mired with controversy especially during the second term of devolution. The impeached governor transferred various services to the national government through the NMS.

Sakaja has prepared a list of 19 nominees who will sit in his cabinet. Among those nominated include the “Super” CEC  Charles Kerich. Kerich was termed as a super CEC during the Sonko administration. He was appointed by sonko to head up to four departments. While making the announcement, Sakaja nominated Kerich for the Finance and Economic affairs docket. Michael Gumbo was nominated for the Innovation and digital economy docket.

The governor also formed the docket for Business and Hustler opportunities. the docket will be headed by Rosemary Kariuki. Others who have been nominated include:

 Maureen Njeri (Green Nairobi), Dr. Anastacia Mutethya Nyalita (Health, Wellness and Nutrition) and Suzanne Silantoi (Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service).

Other Nominees

Dr. Jairus Musumba has been nominated for the position of County Secretary, David Njoroge (Chief of Staff), Lawrence Wambua (Economic Affairs Advisor), Elias Mutuma (Legal Advisor), Dr. Samora Otieno (Health Advisor) and William Ndung’u (Political Advisor) also made Sakaja’s list of nominees.

Prof. Washington Yotto Ochieng (Mobility Advisor), John Mwangi Maina (Urban and Regional Planning) and Priscilla Mahinda (Private Secretary) will also sit on Sakaja’s cabinet upon approval. Brian Mulama and Patrick Mbogo have been proposed for the Talent and Skills Development and  Mobility & Works CEC positions respectively . Stephen Gathuita Mwangi and Ibrahim Auma Nyanganya will lead the Urban Planning and Boroughs Administration and Personnel dockets correlative upon approval.

He also allocated the deputy Governor overall supervisory cabalities of two CEC’s. Ibrahim Auma Nyanganya and Rosemary Kariuki will be reporting directly to Njoroge Muchiri,the Deputy Governor.
