Ruto requests his Boss the president to look into the hate leaflets issue

Deputy  president William Ruto  has requested  his Boss the president to look into the hate leaflets issue in Rift Valley. According to him the leaflets are being distributed in Rift valley threatening residents not to vote.

Ruto stated that people  distributing the leaflets are well known to the state and their aim is to cause panic among the members of the community to bur them from voting.He know wants the perpetrators to be brought to justice as such actions threatens the nation’s peace.

The DP warns leaders against using violence and threats in order to appropriate elections in their favour.

“We committed ourselves in 2007 that we will never again go back to the politics of ethnicity and division and violence. But they are people, having realised that they can’t win the elections, they want to cause conflict.”

About two days ago The Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i said that 8 suspects in connection with the distribution of hate leaflets were arrested.

He noted that a security review is taking place in the two regions of the Rift Valley where tension had already build up.None of those arrested were employees of the  president.

The National Security Council has deployed security personnel in Molo, Kuresoi and  Nessuit ready to take up any challenge.

CS Matiang’i restated that his ministry is committed to ensuring there is  peace during and after elections.
