“Revenge Affair” Against Ex-Wife Goes Wrong as Man Lands In Court For Mistakenly Murdering A Family of 7

Revenge is never the best answer, it leads to more trouble.

Drama broke out in Embu high court as a suspect connected to the death of seven family members Runyenjei Embu East was presented in court.

The suspect, Boaz Wanjala, covered his face using a jumper hoodie he had on.

He was ordered to uncover his face by the High court judge Lucy Njuguna , who also told him to stand upright while facing the court.

Wanjala was charged with seven murder accounts. He is suspected to have murdered seven people on 2nd October 2022 in Nirami Village in Embu West sub county.

Wanjala is suspected to have murdered Charles Kariuki(50), his wife Catherine Wanjiru Kariuki(46),their three children Judy Wanjiru Kariuki(23),Maryan Murugi Kariuki(14),Joel Njeru Kariuki(7)and their two grandchildren Tumaini Blessing judy(5) and Prince Baraka Judy(3).

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the seven accounts.

Why Is Mr. Wanjala The Main Suspect?

A text message led to this.

Wanjala, was arrested in Kakamega County after he allegedly sent his ex-wife, a message questioning whether she was still alive , even after the fire Incident.

Detectives who were on the case, spoke to Kakamega press saying, the suspect had disagreed with his wife leading to them parting ways and his ex-wife remarried.

“We are treating him as the main suspect behind the arson incident,” Joseph Kigen Kakamega County Police Commander said.

According to the detectives, the couple had two children before the separation.

After learning  that his ex-wife had remarried, Wanjala took the news hard, he is said to have sent her a text message threatening to set their family home on fire.

He is however said to have mistakenly set the neighbor’s house on fire in which a man, his wife, their three children and grandchildren were killed, sending the whole village in panic and grief.

The seven family members were burned beyond recognition.

After the incident, the suspect send a message to his ex-wife expressing shock that she was still alive even after the incident.

Wanjala then switched off his phone and went into hiding in a rural home before detectives arrested him.

The case will be mentioned on February 20th when a pre-bail will be set.
