Azimio Party leader Raila Odinga held a meeting in Murang’a.
The leader had been warned not to hold the meeting at the county by the National Police Service.
During the meeting, Raila said that he has the full blessings of the former President Uhuru Kenyatta to help Mt. Kenya people to be part of a national agenda demanding a government that reflects the will of people and one that exercises its mandate in a just and nationalistic manner as opposed” to the current rule of segregation, insults, corruption, chest-thumping and dictatorship.”
On Wednesday, Murang’a County Police Commander David Kainga declared the meeting illegal on the grounds that the conveners, led by former Murang’a governor Mwang wa Iria, had not given a four day ntice prior to the Public Order Act.
Raila said that the order had come from Mt Kenya Power brokers “who have been going around pretending they are freedom fighter but have no history of being part of liberation causes in the country.
Mr. Kainga’s declaration was overturned by a Senior state House operative through central Region Security Committee, who had given a greenlight to Raila Odinga to hold the meeting.
Raila was was accompanied by his running mate Martha Karua, Jubilee Secretary -general Jeremiah Kioni, DAP Kenya party leader Eugene Wamalwa, George Wajakoyah, Wycliffe Oparanya and Ndiritu Muriithi.
During the meeting, the party did not address any gathering in the streets, and announced similar meetings will be held in Nyahururu in Laikipia county.
The Party leader said his votes were stolen in a big way especially in Mt. Kenya and prophesied that local residents will soon start regretting supporting President Rutos government.
Martha Karua who was also present at the meeting, urged the residents to be careful of powerful leaders who want to divide the country along tribal , regional, political and religious lines for easy control.
