Promise Kept; as Ruto appoints Mudavadi as Prime Cabinet Secretary

President William Ruto will go down in history as an oath and promise keeper after appoint Mudavadi to the cabinet. During the campaign period , the president had Promised ANC party leader the Prime Cabinet secretary position. He had also promised Moses Wetangula the Speaker for the national assembly position. This promise was however pegged on the fact that the duo would deliver over 70% of Western Kenya votes.

Although the duo didn’t manage to make good on their word, the president has shown true statesmanship by keeping his word. Mudavadi in this case was walking a tight rope as his home county didn’t deliver well for the Kenya Kwanza coalition. On the other hand Moses Wetangula was in a good spot as his home county of Bungoma delivered well for the coalition.

The ANC party had proposed Mudavadi for the seat after the conclusion of the 2022 Presidential election. During the appointment, the head of state noted that the position is the third most powerful position after that of President and deputy president.

The Duties

The President tasked the ANC leader with assisting the office of the President and that of his deputy in supervising state ministries.

“Chair and coordinate National Government Legislative agenda across all Ministries and State Departments in consultations with and for transmission to the party coalition leadership in both National Assembly and the Senate,” added Ruto.

Ruto also tasked Mudavadi with facilitating inter-ministerial coordination of cross-functional initiatives and programs.The new prime CS will coordinate and supervise the technical monitoring and evaluation of government policies programmes and projects across ministries.
