Police in Kiambu have retrieved three homemade guns and a toy pistol which criminals have been using to terrorize residents. in Kikuyu.
They also recovered hundreds of stones of bhang, liters of illicit alcohol, fake Kenya Revenue Authority and Pangas.
Kiambu County Commander Perminus Kioi said a fourth suspect was lynched by members of the public near Sigoni Golf Club.
“We mounted a multi-agency operation following rising cases of insecurity in Kikuyu and managed to nab the trio. A fourth one wasn’t lucky because he was apprehended by members of the public who lynched him and set his getaway vehicle on fire,” he said.
The police boss, who was accompanied by the Kikuyu OCPD Kirui and CID boss Peter Ochieng, said the criminals have been attacking locals at their homes and along roads.
‘They use motorcycles to raid homes before fleeing to the neighboring county Nairobi County,” he said.
The police commander said that to ensure the security of locals, they urged the public to volunteer information on criminals’ hideouts.
“Let me thank the public and Nyumba Kumi for sharing crucial information leading to numerous arrests. Let nobody allow a criminal to live in their midst,” he said.
The suspects are being held at Kikuyu Police Station and will be arraigned in court tomorrow.
