Pastor Ezekiel Odero Faces Court Over Involvement In Cult Massacre

Pastoker Ezekiel Odero faces a court on hearing on Thursday over his involvement in the Shakahola Massacre.

The wealthy pastor, is being investigated on the counts of murder, aiding suicide, abduction, radicalization, crimes against murder, child cruelty, fraud and money laundering.

The prosecutors also accuse the pastor over his involvement with the cult leader Paul Mackenzie, who s custody facing terrorism, charges over the deaths of more than 100people, others being children.

Pastor Mackenzie, is alleged to have told his followers to fast to death in order to ‘meet Jesus’ a case that has left many in shock.

Ezekiel arrived in  court in the Indian Ocean port city of Mombasa ahead of the hearing. He was met with about 50 of his supporters , some dressed in all white, some in red , praying with bible’s in hand.

Odero was arrested last Thursday “over the killings of his followers” and his church was closed.


A total of 109 people have so far been confirmed dead in what has ben dubbed the “Shakahola forest massacre.”

Autopsies carried out on the 40 bodies revealed that starvation appeared to be the main cause of death, some victims were strangled, or suffocated.

Prosecutors reveal that they have information linking the corpses exhumed at shakahola to the deaths of several of Odero’s followers.

They presented in court documents that both pastors share “history of business investments” including a television station used to pass “radicalized messages” to their followers.

In a court filing, Ezekiel said he wanted to strongly dissociate himself from Mackenzie and disagreed with his teachings.

The country has been shocked by the incident, The President pledging to to take action against churches and cults that are involved in criminality.
